Abstractor

Hillsboro Title Company is a full-service title insurance agency that handles both residential and commercial transactions. The Abstractor responsible for day to day production of title and search documents and must pay close attention to details. 

Responsibilities

  • Accurately interpret order instructions, including the ability to evaluate order information received in comparison to the land as legally described in the public records
  • Receive and review high volume of title requests, prioritizing and completing abstracts within specified timeframes
  • Review electronic county records including Clerk of Courts, Auditor’s Office, County Recorder’s Office, Probate Courts, and other official sites to ensure information is complete, accurate and current
  • Follow specific instructions in assembling packages for auditable review to the Examination Department
  • Review plat maps, deeds and legal descriptions to determine the boundaries of the property
  • Plot and draw out legal descriptions for clarity, as needed
  • Make basic decisions within scope of knowledge and authority 
  • Communicate updates daily to internal departments and management
  • Other administrative support as required

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Prior title experience preferred, but not required
  • Ability to navigate and multi-task through multiple systems
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and excellent communication skills
